The Challenge: The Content Maintenance Bottleneck
Scaling technical training across 150+ complex software courses created a massive production bottleneck for our team. Our original process relied on high-fidelity, human-recorded audio production.
Every time the software UI updated, it triggered an expensive and slow chain reaction. We had to re-record human voiceovers, re-edit the files, and wait days for the Media team to approve the audio. This process drove asset maintenance costs up to $75 per simulation, making our training library completely unsustainable to scale.

The Strategy: Overcoming Resistance with Data
To eliminate this bottleneck, I proposed integrating AI-generated voices directly into our simulation workflows. However, shifting away from human voiceovers required proving that the learner experience would not degrade.
I conducted a historical audit of over 7,700 learner feedback comments spanning several years. The data revealed that audio fidelity was rarely a primary concern for our users:
- Only 35 out of 7,700 comments mentioned voice audio at all.
- 23 of those comments were generally positive ("pleasant/helpful"), while 12 simply noted the pacing was too fast.
- Crucially, during pilot tests, zero learners explicitly noticed or complained about the AI-generated voices.
Armed with this data, I found an AI voice that we could use for no additional cost that sounded human and secured leadership buy-in to completely overhaul our production pipeline.
